Science

At Amherst County Public Schools, our vision for science is to cultivate a learning environment where curiosity drives discovery and every student actively engages in making sense of the natural world. Through meaningful real-world phenomena, authentic problems, and hands-on investigations, students ask thoughtful questions, plan and carry out investigations, analyze evidence, develop models, construct and communicate explanations, and solve problems using scientific thinking. Students collaborate, engage in meaningful discourse, think critically, and use evidence to support their reasoning as they connect science to their lives, communities, and the world around them. We are committed to fostering scientific literacy, critical thinking, and a lifelong curiosity that empowers all students to understand the world around them and confidently apply science in their everyday lives and future endeavors.
