Attendance Challenge: Every Day Counts, Every Drop Wins! 

Here in Amherst County Public Schools, we know that regular school attendance is the single most important factor in your student’s academic and social success. When students are here, they are learning, growing, and building bright futures.

To kick off the school year with strong habits, we are launching an exciting, division-wide ACPS Attendance Competition - the Rise & Shine Challenge - this September!

How it works:

• The Timeline: The competition runs for 3 weeks, from Monday, August 31, thru Friday, September 18.
• The Goal: Every grade level across our division will compete to see who can achieve the highest overall attendance rate.
• The Reward: At the end of the 3 weeks, students in the grade level with the highest attendance rate over the 3-week period will earn a chance to step up to "The Attendance Board" - a giant peg board game! They will drop a puck down the board to see what exciting prizes or privileges they will win.

How you can help:

Missing just two days a month can cause a student to fall behind. You can support your student by emphasizing the importance of showing up every day, scheduling appointments outside of school hours when possible, and keeping us informed if an illness occurs.
