New Student Registration Update

New student registration forms for the 2020-2021 school year can be filled out online at https://ecollect.accelaschool.com/Amherst.

If you do not have internet access, please visit one of our WiFi access locations at any of our schools, Amherst Town Hall, and Amherst/MH Libraries. If you are unable to access these locations or do not have a device, please schedule a time to meet with your building administrator.

Proposed 2020-21 School Operational Budget

On Thursday, February 27, 2020, the Superintendent presented the following Proposed 2020-21 School Operational Budget to the members of the Amherst County School Board. The Budget is based on the Governor's Proposed Budget which is the worst-case scenario.

Parents: We Need Your Help

Amherst County Schools needs to verify contact information that we have on file for students. Proposed Computer Science Curriculum

The Virginia Board of Education is now seeking comments from the general public on the proposed computer science curriculum framework for use in Virginia public schools. 

Free and Reduced Breakfast and Lunch

What you will need to provide during the application process:

  • The names and incomes of every member of your household
  • The school, grade, birthdate of every student in your household
  • Your social security number and electronic signature
  • (Optional) A valid email address or phone number for district communication about the status of the application.

Smart Start Preschool Program

Free, full day Pre-School for your 4 year old (must be 4 by Sept. 30, 2020).

Parents/guardians will be notified by May 29, 2020 regarding their child's acceptance into the program.

3 Locations:

Madison Heights Elementary
Central Elementary
Amelon Elementary

Program Enrollment limited to: 90 Students, 18 in each class.

No Cost Breakfast, Lunch, and Snack. All school supplies provided. School Bus Transportation included on a limited basis.

Program meets all Virginia State Standards for Pre-School education.
