Proposed At-Home Learning Week Feb 8-12

On Thursday, December 10th, ACPS proposed to the School Board an At-Home Learning week from February 8-12. Although this request has not been approved by the Board, we want to prepare families for their potential decision at the January Meeting. During this week, all students will work from home on Project Based Learning opportunities while allowing teachers, administrators, and the division  to prepare for the upcoming transition of students to the second semester.

SOL Writing Test Information - 11/23/2020

Thanks to a waiver from the state, 8th and 11th grade students in a semester 1 English course will not be required to take the upcoming Standard of Learning writing test. As a replacement, a division assessment will be preloaded onto a flash drive for Amherst Remote Academy students to pick up beginning Monday, November 30th.   You will need to fill out this Google form to select your mandatory pick-up date/time. Students will need to be present to sign the testing ticket.

ARA Attendance Procedure

ARA students and families - We have made a slight change to our ARA attendance procedure.  You may have a new advisory teacher where you will take attendance.  In most cases, this teacher is one of your classroom teachers, which will make contacting them easier for families.  This change will take effect for the week of November 30.  Please contact your teacher or administrator with any questions or concerns.

New Statewide Measures to Contain the Spread of COVID-19

On Friday, November 13, 2020 Governor Ralph S. Northam announced new statewide measures to contain the spread of COVID-19.

One of these measures is to limit gatherings to 25 people. The social gathering limit does not apply to instructional education settings, including classrooms, buses, cafeteria, and recess. Therefore, ACPS’ health mitigation plan will not change at this time.

We are still awaiting guidance from the VHSL on extracurricular activities. ACPS will continue to keep families informed as we receive information.

2020 District Operations Survey

To continue to best serve the needs of our families, students, and staff - Amherst County Public Schools is in need of your feedback. ACPS has developed a 2020 District Operations Survey to give you an opportunity to report on different areas of Amherst County Public Schools. We encourage you to take the time to complete this survey so that we can identify more ways to support the ACPS community.  The link to this survey can be accessed below:
